15 Ways To Improve Your Mood

We all have bad days and good days, but it’s important to always work on improving your mood because you deserve to be happy!  There are many small and easy things you can do in order to feel better, but here are some ideas:

1. Write about your feelings.

Whether you’re a writer or not, it always helps to let everything out that you’ve been building up inside. If you put all your thoughts down on paper, not only will you feel relieved, but it will also be easier for you to solve your problems.

2. Exercise.

Even though lying on the couch sounds better than exercise, releasing those endorphins can be very fulfilling! Even just going for an easy walk can make you feel really great; it doesn’t have to be anything extensive!

3. Listen to your favorite music.

Even though you might be tempted to listen to sad music when you’re in a negative mood, doing so will only keep you in that mood. If you listen to your favorite upbeat music and sing along, you’ll start feeling better before you know it!

4. Get organized.

Create a Writing Schedule

If you’re in a bad mood because you have a lot on your plate, take a moment to breathe and make a list or schedule of everything you have to do. If you organize everything by when you’re going to get things done, it will be easier for you to accomplish everything.

5. Do some cleaning.

No one really likes cleaning, but if you’re in a clean environment, you’ll automatically be able to feel a lot better about life. Even if it’s just picking up some things off your floor, you’ll feel great about the improvement you have just made.

6. Get some fresh air.

Being cooped up inside when you’re in a bad mood makes it hard to improve. Go sit outside, or even just crack open your window. Breathing in the outside air will make your brain feel less “blah” and more at ease.

7. Hang out with friends.

If you go out and do something fun, or even just sit and chat with friends, chances are you’ll start feeling a lot better right away. Whether it’s talking to your friends about why you’re in a bad mood, or just distracting yourself, it’s a lot better than sitting by yourself.

8. Watch some funny videos.

YouTube can be your best friend if none of your friends are available to make you laugh. Watch some of your old favorite funny videos, or look up new, random ones. Laughing is good for the soul!

9. Watch your favorite movie.

If you have some more time, watch a movie that you have always loved and always makes you smile or laugh. Or even watch your favorite TV show! Entertainment is beautiful thing.

10. Dance in your room.

This is where that saying “dance like no one is watching” comes in. Blast a catchy tune and dance your heart out because why not? You’ll not only have a chance to laugh at yourself, but you’ll also have so much fun.

11. Think about something exciting.

Find at least one thing that you are looking forward to and focus on that. It’ll make your day a lot better knowing that better things are coming to you very soon.

12. Play with puppies.

If you don’t have your own dog, go to a pet store or shelter and go play with or pet some dogs! Dogs instantly put people in a good mood because they are just so cute and friendly! If you’re not a dog person, choose another animal to go play with!

13. Volunteer.

If you have some extra time, go find a volunteer opportunity. Making other people happy will give you a lot of great feelings. Essentially, helping others become happy will make you happy as well.

14. Finish a project you’ve been putting off.

It always feels great to finish something, so if you’ve been procrastinating on a hobby or project, go finish it! Even if you’re busy, try to make some time to get it done.

15. Just smile.

This one may sound silly, but smiling alone can change your mood, even in the slightest way. Try to smile throughout the day, and smile at others as well, because you never know who else is also having a bad day!

Quote Of The Day:

7 Reasons Why Shay Carl Is An Inspiration

You might know him as that crazy, energetic guy on YouTube with his family known as “The Shaytards”, but what you may not know is his backstory and other elements of his persona that make him truly inspirational.

1. He has worked his way past tough times. When Shay and his wife, Colette, were first starting out their family, times were really hard. They were in debt, and Shay was struggling to help his family survive. He worked extremely hard and was eventually able to get out of debt to support his growing family. Before he knew it, he was doing what he loved (making YouTube videos) and he even co-founded Maker Studios (who was then bought by Disney!). This just shows how strong of a person he is, simply by how he never gave up.

2. He values the importance of family. Shay records the daily life of him and his family because he likes to capture the memories and share it with the world. He always spends as much time as he can with his wife and children, because he understands how vital that time is. He always makes an effort to experience new adventures with his family because he wants to open his children up to the world and allow them to live life to the fullest.

3. He is always positive and upbeat. Through his vlogs, one can tell that Shay has a very energetic and loud personality, which reflects his way of approaching life. He constantly takes time to talk about important life lessons and looking on the bright side of things, which is what he tries to do with his own life. His emphasized smiles and his crazy laughter and shenanigans show people that you don’t have to take life so seriously all the time and that it’s a good thing to have some fun!

4. He is truly passionate about what he does. You can tell how much he loves producing videos and the fact that his family is involved just makes him love it even more. He always talks about how much he enjoys his career and how grateful he is to have a job that he thoroughly enjoys. His creative soul shines through all the time, which allows him to inspire others to find an outlet in which they can express themselves.

5. He is very adventurous. Shay is always trying new and exciting things and he is a huge believer in doing things that scare you. He proves to everyone that life is a lot more satisfying if you put yourself out there and try not to hold back from doing anything. I’m fairly certain that he would try anything once, which just reflects how blissfully crazy he is.

6. He is extremely determined. This quality especially shines through when it comes to his weight loss and fitness goals. If you watch early Shaytards videos, you can tell how much weight Shay has lost from that point up until now. He even has a separate YouTube channel called Shayloss which documents his fitness journey. He has even participated in several marathons, which at one point, he never even thought would be possible for him, yet he worked his way up to that point through determination. He keeps his determination streak going on this weight loss journey and continues to strive and work his way to the top.

7. He genuinely cares about others. Whether it be fulfilling a Make a Wish dream of meeting him and his family, or just simply acknowledging his appreciation for his fans, Shay has a heart that is big enough to go around the entire world. He not only encourages his children to follow their dreams and goals, but he encourages all of his viewers to do so as well. He sees the good in everyone, which makes him a well-rounded human being. This also makes him a great role model for people of all ages because he knows the value of treating others with respect.

A Rambling of Positive Thinking

Since it’s been awhile since I’ve posted on here, I decided that I’m just going to ramble on about being positive in life and basically just let my fingers explain what’s going on in my crazy mind.

I’ll start off by saying that life throws curveballs at us all the time. Certain things happen in life that are unexpected and maybe disappointing at times, but the unexpected is the best thing that can happen to us. Honestly, if we knew in advance every little thing that was going to happen in life, how would we grow? How would we learn? The answer is, we wouldn’t. If we knew these things in advance, the only thing we would learn is how to prepare for disaster.

But life isn’t about preparation. Life is about taking each bullet and becoming a stronger person in the end.  It may be hard to realize it when it’s happening, but if you’re going through a difficult situation, it’s actually more helpful than toxic. How, you ask? Well, every single time a person has to go through something, he or she has to find a way out of it. The whole process of getting out is essentially a process of growth. We all know that amazing feeling that we get when we accomplish something huge; you feel as if you could conquer the world. Well this is the same thing. Once you dig yourself out of that hole that you got into, you can take a deep breath of fresh air and say, “I made it”. So ultimately, the end result of a bad situation is what you should always be thinking about.

There’s no official “how to” guide for getting out of a tough situation/time in life, but there are some things that you can do in order to slowly but surely get on the right track. The first thing you have to do, is tell yourself that it’s not the end of the world. Whether it be a small situation, or a much bigger problem, nothing is worth losing hope over. NOTHING. If you tell yourself to be positive right from the beginning, it makes the healing process go a lot smoother. The next thing you have to do, is sit down and create a list of things you can do to fix your situation. Now, I understand that everyone is different and everyone is going through different things, but I feel like everyone can still make some sort of personalized list. For example, if you’re going through a breakup, think of ways you can distract yourself, think of ways you can move on, and think of what things you can do that make you happy. No matter what it is, always make sure that it’s something positive and healthy for you. Don’t be afraid to only think about yourself (unless the situation involves another person’s well-being). After this list-making process, it’s time to get to action. Do these things on your list right away, don’t sit around and wallow and procrastinate. That will do you no good! It’s okay to be sad sometimes, but don’t let it take over. You will only heal if you get up and do something about it!

So when you find yourself losing all hope, just stop and think about how beneficial this situation is for you. It may sound weird to do that, but trust me, you’ll be happy you did it. I don’t even know if my disorganized thoughts even made sense in this post, but I really hope whoever is reading this gained something from it. If all else fails, just smile and know that you can get through anything and everything. We may not be superheroes, but us humans can have the strongest powers in the universe; we can survive anything.

I’ll leave you with the quote of the day (randomly decided that I’ll do this from now on):
